Work Conditioning & Return to Work

Work Conditioning and Return-to-Work Programs

Work conditioning is a structured, job-aligned rehabilitation program that rebuilds a worker’s strength, endurance, and tolerance for the specific physical demands of their job, using progressive tasks that mirror real work. A return-to-work program is the system around it: documented job demands, clear restrictions, transitional duty, progression criteria, and communication among the employer, the treating clinician, and the case manager, so an injured worker comes back sooner and stays back.

Program Design

What a sound program includes

Measured job demands for the target job; job-based progression protocols, the same across evaluators; documentation and outcome-tracking templates; defined transitional-duty options; and a named owner for the program’s numbers.

TWHP’s Role

What Torres Workforce Health Partners does

For PT practices, TWHP designs work conditioning and return-to-work systems — progression protocols, documentation standards, and alignment to job-demand profiles — as part of a System Build, following the Program Diagnostic. For employers in North and South Carolina, TWHP designs the return-to-work and transitional-duty workflow inside the Workforce Health & Risk Operating System Build. TWHP provides program design and advisory support, not clinical treatment.
